Our cocker spaniel Rosie was the obvious inspiration for Eilidh in #TheMermaidofDoomBar. Eilidh is all part of the healing process for young Jack Venning.

As she sank, she glared a glittering stare across at Thomas, then scooped up mounds and mounds of sand and flung them over the water like a huge sandstorm, forming a large sandbank across the estuary.

Some copies of my book arrived today fresh from the publishers. Amazing to actually hold it as an actual book. Not too long until Book Launch – keep watching this space!

Well, the final proofs get authorised – it can only mean one thing…the book is nearly ready to actually be read! So it won’t be long before I can announce Book Launch Day! How exciting! Watch this space

So The Mermaid of Doom Bar will be out this summer! This is very exciting as it’s my first children’s book to be published.

Who am I you might be wondering? Well possibly. I live in Somerset with my wife and a crazy cocker spaniel called Rosie.I have two grown up daughters, the eldest is a Primary School Teacher and the youngest is at university studying to become a Forensic Psychologist. My wife is a History Teacher. Until recently, I was a Primary School Teacher – in fact our family is littered with teachers! The thing I loved most about teaching was reading and writing with my class. Now I am enjoying writing stories for children. I absolutely love Cornwall, so you’ll find that Cornwall is the setting for many of my stories. I love reading, as I’m sure you do and I enjoy sport. I have always wanted to be a children’s author, so for me this is like a dream come true!
